Anne Curtis Nagkwento Tungkol Sa Nangyari Sa Kanya Na Muntik Nang Bumawi Sa Kanyang Buhay
Now that summer is finally here, the season for beaches and bikinis has officially begun. However, we should always be wary when visiting new places, especially when we are not familiar with its terrain. Yesterday, Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis took to Instagram to recall how she nearly lost her life four years ago, in an attempt to raise awareness about the possible dangers of the sea.
On April 4, 2014, the “It’s Showtime” host was rushed to the hospital after getting stung by a box jellyfish. The incident happened while she was taping in the waters of Batangas for ABS-CBN’s now-defunct fantaserye, “Dyesebel”.
Yesterday, exactly four years after her life-threatening experience, Anne shared how thankful she is to be alive.
She said she was lucky to have only been stung by half a tentacle. Although she immediately experienced vomiting, extreme pain, and delirium — all of which are symptoms of a box jellyfish sting, the venom was not enough to put her into cardiac arrest.
She added that it is every person’s responsibility to ask the locals what one should look out for when visiting a new beach, especially when intending to go for a swim.
The actress wrote:
“This summer, be careful in our waters. Because yes, we do have one of the world’s deadliest jellyfish in the Philippine seas — the box jellyfish… The ocean is their home. We are merely visitors.”
